Counting Coup On The Inner Self Tyrant

Part of our Tyrants blog series where you will learn the many faces of the tyrants. You will learn about the other tyrants of life like time, situations, space and the environment. You will also learn about the people called “Two-Legged Tyrants” and what their focus is for tyranting you. You will clearly see how you opened the door and let the tyrant in. Best of all, this series teaches you how to stop any tyrant from stealing your life force energy and how to count coup and gain the true teaching for both you and the tyrant.

A Closer Look at The Tyrant

Last blog, we looked at the story & teaching of this tyrant. Now, let’s examine the four faces of the inner Shideh Tyrant.

In the south are projected perceptions. Perception is the ability to receive and interpret stimulus input. These stimuli, however, are filtered through our moods, our past experiences, our character, etc. and then projected back out onto people, places and things thus defining our “personal reality”. These projected perceptions are also functions of our emotional filters and are tainted with our pretenses. We construct the world, our reality, through our projected perceptions. That is all we have until we evolve to and develop neutral perception, which takes a high level of maturity. Then we can see reality through unfiltered lenses, so to speak.

In the west are pretense experiences. These experiences, usually physical, come from our pretense. The dictionary says that pretense is a claim that is not supported by fact. When we are in pretense, we are pretending that life is a certain way when in actuality it is not. We live in illusion, maya.

In the north are the pretender voices. These are actually the internal voices of our karmic ego that reinforce the belief systems that are repetitious patterns of pain. These pretender voices begin in childhood and are learned through how we experience our reality at the time. This voice has no good intentions for us. It was created out of a survival mentality and it has an investment in staying safe and secure and at our current level of maturity. Most often this voice will speak with the authority we have given to it, and oddly enough we listen.

In the east is illusion. Illusion is a misleading visual image. We can tell that we are in illusion when our actions do not actualize or produce anything. Our illusions tyrant us by keeping us chasing our tail in a never-ending circle instead of spiraling us into the actualization of our true potential.

Counting Coup On The Tyrant

The sitting place (3) of the shideh inner tyrant is in the southeast. The shideh inner tyrant is triggered by fear expressed through anger. The shideh inner tyrant is angry because it knows that change is necessary to make the unknown known. It is afraid to change its concept of self. We therefore, don’t have a good self-concept. This reflects out into our attitude and approach toward life. The shideh inner tyrant uses a water sword in the form of emotionality to distract us from our spiritual growth. It receives emotionality and projects it into repressed pretense and perceptions as a fire sword. We therefore make up our pretender voices through the block of repression.

The shideh inner tyrant is dealing with the same kinds of issues as the external tyrant. That is why we dream a tyrant into our circle. There is something in our circle we must deal with. Often it is our shideh inner tyrant that will prevent us from dealing effectively with the external tyrant, so to truly be able to count coup on the external tyrant, you must first win the battle within.

The one (1) place is where we open the door. It is in the north, the place where we find what is meaningful in our life, what we value. Our insecurities about our value and what we value invites this tyrant in. One of the big questions we ask throughout our life is “What is the meaning of life?” The Elders say that life essentially has no meaning. The only meaning that life has is the meaning that a warrior brings to it. If we could truly live by this, the shideh inner tyrant would not get its foot in the door. We would be too busy making life happen to respond to its knock.

We must count coup on the shideh inner tyrant at (5) in the west. This is the place where we take responsibility for our life…or not. The west is the place of death, change and transformation and so it is the place where we must bring death to or silence this shideh inner tyrant. In this instance death means not letting it be in charge of making any major decisions.

Fear also sits in the west and it is important to overcome fear and to be fully present in the physical and gain physical mastery. How we count coup on our inner tyrant is to confront the places inside us where we are afraid. Fear is the unknown. Make the unknown known.

The six (6) place in the northwest is the true teaching gained by counting coup on this tyrant. We will gain our Sacred Image, our Magickal Mysterious Character and go beyond the boundary and limitations of civil, social and religious law to walk within Sacred Law.

Join us on the next blog as we learn about the center tyrant.
