Part of the Journeys Into the Mirror collection of reflections by Janneke Koole—born from a lifetime of spiritual practice, personal healing, and a deep connection to nature. Inspired by her mother’s way of seeing beauty in the everyday, Janneke invites us to look at the outer seasons as mirrors for our inner lives. Each piece offers a story, image, or guided practice to help you reconnect with your senses, your spirit, and your own truth as a woman.
You are invited to journey into the mirror of Winter
Engage, reflect, journal, and find your own connection to Winter.
It does not matter what time of the year it is—these reflections take you into yourself as a season. It does not matter what stage you are in your life, each season has an invitation for you.
You are invited to journey into the mirror of self-reflection to deepen your self-acceptance and encourage your self-expression.
Woman is like Winter
Still
Within
A breath held longer than you’d think
Dreaming that which cannot yet be named
Waiting for a movement not yet begun
Anticipating new life not yet stirring within
Our depth is unfathomable
Our silence impenetrable
Our ways not reproducible
Even before conception, we carry the unspoken until ready for words
Even before birthing, we surrender to the forces much greater than our small voice
Even before dying, we know that time is complete
Still, within the winter, we know without knowing how we know
One day this winter, enter into the still night without turning on any lights.
Don’t turn on any music; turn off all the phones, radio, TV, etc.
Instead sit quietly and feel the approach of darkness.
As night falls, observe its movements and hear its call.
Stay totally quiet and utterly still.
Notice how the sounds all around you change.
Notice how, deep within the silence,
life is unfolding without definition of form or name.
Know you are holding indescribable potential within.
Name three ways in which you can deepen your inner silence and visit your potential.
You may wish to journal:
I am Winter I am…
