I once felt like a young child discovering a new world when I first encountered the Four Worlds of Grandmother Earth. It had never occurred to me that stones could hold stories, that plants could offer comfort, or that animals could carry wisdom with such quiet certainty. Over time, simple moments—like sitting on a driveway with my nieces making up stories with stones, or noticing how we carry “worry stones” today—taught me that these worlds aren’t distant or mythical. They are our relations. As I watched how people either trampled or treasured these worlds, I realized how much our choices shape our connection to life, to others, and to ourselves.

Women are like Stones
We come in many shapes and sizes
Some are roughly hewn, some polished to a shine
Some are tumbled clean while some remain buried in the earth
Holding secrets for ages on end
Sharing stories containing ancient wisdom
Carrying the world within our womb
We are capable of transforming anything into pure gold

Go for a walk in nature—choose a location where
there are many rocks, stones, and even boulders.
Take one in your hands and hold it on your belly.
Or if the stone allows, place your belly on its belly.
Quiet all thought and listen through feeling.
Sense the hidden stories; know the ancient wisdom.
Share one of your own stories;
Ask a question to which you long to know an answer.
Relax and let go!
Simply be there with this world.
