Illness & Healing: The Call for Change

Have you ever noticed that every time you get sick or injure yourself that somewhere in your life, somehow, something has to change? This is an invitation to move towards your authentic self, to ask more from life. There is a demand from life to make decisions and set priorities that will reconnect you to your true heart’s desire.

When the body experiences illness, it is telling us that SOMETHING NEEDS TO CHANGE.

Illness, as a teacher, asks the questions:

  • “Where and when did I disconnect to life, myself and others and to Spirit?”
  • “What does living a life with meaning and purpose mean for me?”
  • “What is it that I have longed for and not yet created in my life?”
  • “What inside me is asking to be healed?
  • “What must I listen to?”
  • “What is the illness screaming about?”

Whenever we confront illness, we often believe that we must heal our body before we can put our attention to healing our life in its many arenas. In reality the truth is actually the other way around – we must put our attention to healing our life in order to heal our body. This is the confrontation in order to evolve.

To heal oneself is to understand why and how we choose sickness as an affliction of character and spirit and why we are in physical form in the first place.

The Friends of the Deer Tribe is an outreach program supporting spiritual seekers and those interested in the many programs offered by the Deer Tribe and the Sweet Medicine SunDance Path teachings. We are excited to announce monthly Zoom teachings to the public featuring our teachers on various subjects.
