Part of the Journeys Into the Mirror collection of reflections by Janneke Koole—born from a lifetime of spiritual practice, personal healing, and a deep connection to nature. Inspired by her mother’s way of seeing beauty in the everyday, Janneke invites us to look at the outer seasons as mirrors for our inner lives. Each piece offers a story, image, or guided practice to help you reconnect with your senses, your spirit, and your own truth as a woman.

When I first opened to the World of Animals, I began to sense how they carry messages of great importance and how they somehow know just when to be there when we need them. Over time, I realized that our instincts and natural talents are like the animals themselves—alert, wise, and deeply responsive to life. As I watched how animals move through the world, I saw how they teach without speaking, offering presence, guidance, and a reminder that we, too, belong to this larger family of relations.

Sit back and ask yourself, “If I were an animal, which one would I be?”

Choose one from each of the four categories:
One who swims in the deep waters,
One who crawls with their belly on the earth,
One who walks on four legs,
One who flies high in the sky.
Look to the Discovery Channel, nature magazines, the zoo and,
best of all, the open fields and skies to study their nature,
their patterns and how they live.

Invite them to guide you into greater balance in your life and lifestyle.

You may wish to journal:
I am the one who swims in Deep Water; I am ____________
I am the one who crawls with their Belly on the Earth; I am ____________
I am the one who walks on Four Legs; I am ____________
I am the one who Flies High; I am ____________
