DEATH AND DYING WORKSHOP

Honoring the cycles of life

The Sweet Medicine SunDance Path offers a unique approach to Rites of Passage for all ages and all stages of development.

Beginning with a ceremonial approach to conscious conception and birthing to prepare those who desire to become parents, rites exist for each age group from a young pre-puberty child, initiating young boys and girls when they enter puberty, supporting teens to become mature and well-balanced adults, through the varying stages of adults into eldership, and completing with the preparation for death and care for those whose loved ones die.

Death is an Essential Part of Life

Each stage has its own unique opportunity and challenge; each stage therefore has its own ceremony and dedicated experiential knowledge to support maturation and balance.

Our approach to death is that it is an essential part of life. When we prepare for our death we are able to live more whole-heartedly and joyfully.

The intimacy of birth is reflected in the intimacy of death. Both the beginning and the end are transitions of an eternal spirit unfolding and evolving.

On Death and Dying

Our teachings and ceremonies related to death & dying can help with what happens when we die. Other teachings include:

  • How to prepare for death as an act of power.

  • How to help children to overcome the loss of a dear one.

  • How to prepare yourself or someone who is aging to accept death.

  • How to assist terminally ill patients.

  • Integration of loss through a healthy mourning process.
