The “Gateway” process is the underlying structure for self-growth and self-development within the Sweet Medicine SunDance Path (SMSD). It equips spiritual seekers with a proven roadmap to fully discover their true nature and excellence.

It’s a time-tested and step-by-step guide, drawing on the wheels and keys of the SMSD Path to provide a rich, diverse set of tools for spiritual growth and maturation and balanced development of our five aspects: emotional, physical, mental, spiritual and soul force energy.

Connect to Spirit

Through Gateway teachings, tasks and ceremonies, students of this path have the opportunity to explore their own connections to Spirit and develop their own true knowing based on their direct experiences.

Each Gateway consists of specific ceremonies, teachings and tasks designed to guide the student through different aspects of growth and maturation by providing diverse opportunities to engage with self, life and nature. There are a total of fifteen Gateways.

The first three Gateways are a profound journey of self-discovery and healing as students come to grips with the personal stories that have shaped their lives and in the process gain the self-knowledge and inspiration to rewrite those stories in the light to reflect the power and shining of who they were born to become.

Every person’s navigation of the Gateway process is totally unique. Some choose to complete the first three Gateways through DTMMS’s Red Lodge longhouse program. Others may work with a local qualified guide and lodge leader and there are those who choose to travel far and wide to engage with specific teachers and workshops.

A DTMMS Roadmap
